A day in my funny life...
Yesterday I hit a milestone I've been working towards for YEARS. I ran my first 5k without walking or stopping. My previous longest was 2 miles so to hit 3 was so freaking amazing. I always dreamed running would feel like this. I don't even care about being slow right now. That will work itself out with consistent runs. So much changes when you know you CAN do something. Onward and upward, friends! #willisaskill #couchto10k #c210k
Really really happy to be back to morning runs after a lot of ankle work (and it's nice to share the track with fewer people). I'm just such a weakling when it comes to heat! Legs felt so good I added some distance to my week 5 run 2 of #couchto10k
Everything hurts and I smell sooooo bad, but I had a virtual 10k to do! Love the @snohomish_running_co #womensrun but this way was safer (more hills though)
This filter is called "phone was in my sweaty pocket" and this run felt much hotter than 65 degrees. Week 4 Run 1 #couchto10k
I haven't seen @joe.hubbard so here's a pic of his soon-to-be puppy Harley. Today is #nationalbestfriendday I guess. Joe is one of the best people I know. He's constantly working on himself and at the same time encouraging me to be better. He got me to the gym and now we're reading about how to be anti-racist together. He's kind, funny, a little too adventurous, and much too hard on himself. Joe, I can't wait to hang out again in person (and I get if it's the West Seattle Bridge keeping you away and not just a pandemic). Please give yourself a break today <3
I have been trying to figure out what to post about the #blacklivesmatter protests, but I've been so nervous because I was disowned by two family members when I posted about Tamir Rice years ago. I was heartbroken when he died for no reason and I'm heartbroken now.
I can't imagine being scared to go for a run or write a check or play in the park or be in your living room or be black while trans or black while driving or black while birding. We have forced people of color to survive from nothing; to create a life that could be taken away by hate in a moment for no reason. And then we decided that there is no "correct" way to fight that 400 years of oppression.
There is evidence that 25-40% of cops are domestic abusers, but we'll never know because it's too dangerous to hold that community accountable. No, they're not all bad. And I get they have a hard job, but offending a white person should not be a death sentence. The state should never kill its citizens, but especially without due process.
So here it is. I can't just not speak out. I have been choked for saying the wrong thing before, but I got out and safe and am now using my white privilege to call out my own. Enough is Enough. Donate. Protest. Do what you have to do to be heard, because they didn't listen to #georgefloyd or anyone who came before him. If this is how they behave on camera...
Sometimes first songs of the day set the tone for whatever is going to come next. Heard this song in line at the coffee stand before a girls hike/circle drive to Deception Pass and it's just perfect.
PS. Miss you @octopuserin
GLUED to coverage today. Really hope the weather clears up!!! Good luck, #nasa and #spacex #launchamerica #lego
Took two days because I'm nursing an ankle injury but I finished the #orcarunning #socialdistance10k and just conquered my highest number of miles in a week and I've still got 2 days left! I don't even care how purple I look or how sore I am!
Gotta celebrate EVERY win. Today I ran 0.2 miles farther than Day 2 and 0.3 miles farther than Day 1 with the same running prompt. When the scale stalls out, I'm focusing on the big goals of 60min 10k #couchto10k #trusttheprocess
Day 2 of #couchto10k in the rain with a tummy ache and a weird new pain in my foot... Putting in the work! And dressing like a speedbump apparently (not a great idea)
Day one of #couchto10k and first run in weeks after nursing an ankle injury. God it feels good to be back....
Finally opened and unpacked our Lego box! It was gross because we used to keep these above our apparently unvented stove... But now they're clean and filling shelves! Gotta make room for the ISS next... Hmmmm....
Only took 6 months to finally put the main floor bath back together after the move! Now I need a place for the other half of them...
3 months before I get married, new shoes, rocking playlist, missing #orangetheoryfitness #otf90 and all kinds of anxiety is a very very motivating combo (even if my watch HR monitor couldn't keep up with my wrist sweat)
Normally today on this guy's birthday I'd be posting about our adventures so far this year or the place we took the car for dinner or whatever. Not this year. I am watching my way through every sappy thing on every streaming platform and hearing a lot of love, a lot of "marrying my best friend" or "love is a dream" or whatever. All of that is true, but Adam is so much more than that. He's home. He is singing in the shower and the perfect dance of making a meal in the kitchen and gahbershdag and podcasts in the car going to brunch take out. So this is our new reality. Family runs. Lunch and the news. Dinner. Dreaming about the future yes, but also fully being fully us in this life that is home. And it's perfect because it's Adam. Happy birthday, babe!!!
Happy birthday, sweet Kiwi!!! I can't believe you're three already. You're my very favorite and you make everyone smile and I love you so much!!! I promise a big party full of friends and pupcakes!
We took too and windows off as soon as it was going to be sunny for a few days and we're hoping they don't go back on until about October (now that it can live in the garage like this and we can take that highlighter out when it rains or is freezing....) Wishing I was camping, but I guess washing a few cars after sleeping in isn't the worst thing ever. Next task: tackle the View. #jeepwrangler
